Korea discovered 3 new strains of SARS-CoV-2

These strains were found in 3 patients with Covid-19 who entered from abroad in Korea.

Yonhap reported that 3 patients with the genetic mutation in Korea included 2 from Pakistan and one from Uzbekistan. According to Jeong Eun-kyeong, Director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), patients are quarantined immediately after their entry, and the risk of infection to the community is low.

According to KCDC, genotype variables detected different from the 78,810 gene sequences of the SARS-CoV-2 virus were recorded in the GISAID database (under WHO).

Thus, the 3 strains that Korea has just recorded have never appeared in other parts of the world, according to WHO data.
